Re: Doncaster 2022 anyone?

Yep, 2022 may be the summer to look forward to now. I'm hoping at least Newark 2021 can go ahead though, I need to restock with cheap grinding discs, wire wheels and gloves from that trader in the corner of the big barn.

Re: Carawagon cabinetry fastening

Hello and welcome, On the few original bits of mine (1972 5 door) that remained, there was another baton at the bottom, and screws through that into the 'front' panel. Can you see down the inside of the cabinet to see if there's anything down there? It'll be dark mahogany type wood and brass slotted...

Re: Carawagon laminate - all the same, and modern equivalent?

Thanks Phil, that's exactly what I needed to confirm that it's the original surface. I'm still planning to reuse the worktop, but as I uncover and clean more of it I'm finding there are bits of damage here and there. So I've ordered a roll of stick on vinyl with a similar pattern to stick over the t...

Re: Carawagon laminate - all the same, and modern equivalent?

Hi John, Thanks for the link, if I were doing a vehicle from scratch then that would be a very tempting option - fairly easy to reconfigure too if the owner wants something a little different it would just be nuts and bolts. I am debating how to do the runners for sliding doors and that would make i...

Carawagon laminate - all the same, and modern equivalent?

With nowhere to go and no prospect of adventuring in the next few months I decided to remake some of the butchered Carawagon furniture the previous owner had a go at with a nail gun, red laminate and glue. In pulling apart the side cabinet I found that they had stuck the reddish laminate over the to...

Got my papers too - I'll probably travel down after work on the Friday, so see you at some point that evening.

Re: Cooker

Yep, you're looking for a Dudley double burner with grill. Usually hammer blue finish paint, with white top section and knobs. IMG_20160325_165948478.jpg The original height (for mine at least) puts it about an inch from the floor when open inside - so is is possible to cook inside, but not ideal. T...

Re: Which Solar panel?

Hi John, My setup is an Absorbed Glass Mat type lead acid battery under the passenger seat (this style: https://www.optimabatteries.com/en-us/yellowtop-deep-cycle-battery/d34 ) - linked up to the solar charger, and the alternator when the engine's running. It's done well considering it's age now, an...

Re: Which Solar panel?

Hi, I've got a similar setup with a deep cycle battery as a leisure battery, and standard lead acid as the starter. The 80W solar panel on the front rack (mounted flat) rarely puts in more than 6 amps in the UK, if that helps any estimations for amperage. I've used a standard 20A solar controller fo...
