Re: Dormobile tent for sale on ebay

Has anyone tried the oztent with a carawagon, I am thinking about it, I have an original carawagon stand alone tent complete with the 70's flower power curtains in fetching yellow, orange and brown. However I think something like an oztent which would be quick and easy for one person to put up on th...

Roof catches, 40 years on and they are still available

DSC_0012.JPG Hi, just in case anyone is wondering what to do about roof catches, I found that once I had blasted all the rust and paint off my old catches I found the name Protex stamped on them. I googled and found that they are still available. I managed to work out which ones I needed and ordere...

Re: Roof finished, Captain tolley's at the ready!

Hi, I fitted the glass myself, new rubber seals. I joined the ends using sikaflex cutting the rubber 15mm too long so that it was a tight fit when pushed into place. Coh Baines sell a tool for putting the claytonite rubber seals and infill strip in, the cheaper one they sell does the job well and ha...

Roof finished, Captain tolley's at the ready!

At last, now ready to fit. What a job, but worth every minute. I asked when I was getting the flocking done what would be the easiest way to remove old flocking and they said sand it off with a DA. It was really important to clean up round the rivets because anything left would show when re-flocked....

So near to finishing the roof

Hi, I decided to fit the top hinge last, using the ramps ment it was easy to pull the top down with ratchet straps, I marked the inside of the long ply sides with masking tape so I could see where the top needed to be pulled down to then used carpet tape to pull it all into line (all single handed) ...

Re: new roof

Hi Dave, Thank you for your reply, this week I am hoping to get the roof back together, I collected the top sheet from Banbury flocking services yesturday no photos yet as it is wrapped in bubble wrap (it is looking really good).......Then I can start on the next one. Re: Carawagon roof seals

Hi Robin, Thanks for the reply, I am going to fetch the roof on Monday so I have time to order IRS 0693 EP seals for the top hinge, having looked at the picture of Dave's roof it looks a much better solution than the original. I will give an update when I have seen how the flocking looks. Christine

Re: Carawagon roof seals

Hi, I have just been checking through previous posts to see if I have missed anything before I fit the bendy section of the roof and noticed that the original seal that runs between the bendy ali hinge and ply (top corner) IRS 0004 EP has been replaced with IRS 0693 EP. If you all think this is a be...

Re: new roof

Hi, When restoring my 1975 carawagon roof I expected to find something in the void of the ridge between the joined sheets, was surprised to find nothing. Having stripped all the old flocking and paint off (hours of prep.) It would have been much quicker to make a new one. I bought another 1968 caraw...
