Re: Off to the flockers
I am taking the roof to the flockers tomorrow so I will ask. I initially clamped 2 pieces of wood to the ends of the roof to work on it but the clamps got in the way and it was not ideal. The long pieces of the frame have halving joints on the ends and are made from thicker timber than the ends, tha...

Re: Woodwork
Hi Karl,
Did you manage to sort out the wooden sections for your carawagon?
I am getting very close to getting my 1975 carawagon roof finished and then will be starting the early roof which is the same as yours,
let me know if you need templates.
Regards Christine

Re: Off to the flockers
I took the roof off about 2 years ago, it has taken me far too long, too much work, not enough play. I did take the carawagon (with a normal landy roof) to Oban last year and camped in it for one night on the way to catch a ferry, but have decided that it is time to get it all back together before t...

Off to the flockers
DSC_0016.JPG Hi, At last the carawagon roof is coming together, having made the decision to strip the old flock off it took a lot longer than I thought it would! The areas around the leaking alpine windows came off easily as did one or two damaged area in the middle, the rest was stuck very well. T...

Re: Carawagon roof seals
Hi, I used Coh-Baines when I bought my roof seals, very helpful, fast delivery. Does anyone know of a glue/sealant to stick the rubber to the long hinges. I tried a test piece with contact adhesive (once I had cleaned the rubber with some meths as it seemed to be coated with silicone) This was not v...

Re: Woodwork
Thank you Robin,
Yes my later roof has the holes in the plywood where the elastic goes through and x4 aluminium 'U' shaped brackets which clamp the elastic.

Re: Woodwork
Hi Karl, The older bendy aluminium roof measures 2440 x 1500 I think this should be the same as yours. The later roof that I have from a 1975 landy measures 2440 x 1600. Hope this helps, by the way we are at Rose narrowboats, the heart of the canal system with a good choice of routes. http://www.ros...

Re: Woodwork
Sorry I have been a bit busy with work, when I get chance I will drawer round the curved ends to make a paper template with the measurements for the rectangular side pieces drawn on it. I will also measure the bendy aluminium section (this is very damaged on mine but O.K for dimensions), in fact I w...

Re: Woodwork
Hi, I am in the middle of putting the roof back together for a 109 1975 carawagon, I also bought a much earlier one to restore (approx.1968) they are quite different, you will need to measure the rectangular hole in the aluminium roof (the later one is at least 2"wider. Let me know, as I can ea...
