Re: Photos of our old Series 3 Dormobile
Thank you for complimenting. Yeah, things don't always work out quite like you plan them :shakehead: Still, we had some great times with that Dormobile and our daughters still talk about island-hopping expeditions. I enjoy reading your posts on the work you're doing on your beastie and really admire...

Re: Searle number plates - Almost sequential pair.
The lad I bought the blue Dormobile from up in Elgin, back in May 2012, had a Range Rover Carawagon that he was about to start working on. Most unusual looking beast and I hadn't realised then that Range Rovers could be converted like that. I do wonder how he he's got on with it.

Photos of our old Series 3 Dormobile
In the interests of archiving on line photos of old campers I raked out what prints I could find of our original Land Rover Dormobile and scanned them. The previous owner took her from Essex across Africa to Capetown and back via the Sahara. We contented ourselves with the UK - husband was a marine ...

Re: Demountable Camper
Twice in Fort William I've encountered a red LWB single cab pick-up (110 rather than Series) with a demountable camper unit on it. Reasonably compact affair. He reckons he has a top speed of 40 to 45 mph on our roads. I drove behind him up as far as Invergarry and it looked reasonably well behaved. ...

Re: Expedition over-bonnet roof rack
Yes, there are two sand ladders. They hang on a pair of angled hooks on either side of the rack - one hook is visible in the 4th photo down and in the 7th down (with the ranging pole balanced on it. Just realised I missed putting the front view of the rack on. Also one of our poor old S3 dormobile w...

Expedition over-bonnet roof rack
Thought it might be better to post this separately, rather than confusing the "gas bottle cage" thread any further  I've taken photos of my roof rack and for sake of folks who may be interested, annotated them for what bits fit where - I hope it's legible. It looks a bit weird and un...

Re: Gas bottles
It is very early days, but am very taken with JerryD's full bonnet roof rack. I have a full bonnet galvanised roof rack that came off the Series 3 Dormobile that had to be scrapped. I don't envisage fitting it to either of my current Dormobiles, so it is up for grabs. It was made by Brownchurch cir...
