Land Rover Dormobile Tables

Post by jonjeans » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:05 am

Hullo All

My Dormobiles are both missing the correct Dormobile Tables.

I have browsed for pictures, with little success as general views only. I have read someplace that the SHB Dormobile at Romsey did have tables but they needed to be re-manufactured to fit. Any experiences to share?

http://www.dormobile.co.uk/pdfs/LRpartsUKEU.pdf

Anyone have one or 2 for sale?

Alternatively, please does anyone have a table I may borrow to measure and take photos off, so I may make 2? The table top is not a challenge, the correct shape and angles for the legs and supports are trickier, particularly as I do not know how to fit to the body.
One Dormobile I have has a hole in the floor for the support, and a couple of lugs on Passenger seat frame and “C” post behind LHS passenger.
The other one was fitted for a FIAMMA table

Any help appreciated. I live in Somerset,

Thanks

I'm pretty sure Mick (Jabbawocky on here) was making reproduction Dormobile tables to order.

If he doesn't pick up on here, drop him a message.

Cheers,
Robin.

Hi Jon

I have looked into making the tables, but I think I would struggle to get anywhere near the price you can buy from Dormobile. Lots of tiny little parts with difficult bends without a press brake. IMHO they are a bargain. You would have to make a lot to get the economies of scale to make it worth while.

As for them not fitting, they look an exact copy and I'm sure that is what Jim at Dormobile told me when I was looking for one.

As for measuring one, it would simpler to borrow one and just copy the parts.

One of the reason I not definite about the cost is because my press has been out of action. I am hoping to get it operational in the next few weeks and will see if I my press can accurately form the bends. If I can, I will make up a set of the ironwork, just to see how much time these things actually take. I did promise Alex I would make a set up and there were a few others on here looking for tables. My advice is buy the ones from Dormobile before they run out because I bet they will never make another batch.

Are there by any chance any plans for the table top lurking around, as I have the steel, but only the veneer left  . I was thinking earlier, it might be useful to have detailed drawings of fittings like this available for people who need to make them; if I ever get mine done, I might have a go.

If any of you are going to the S2 Club International, you will be very welcome to take all the measurements from Dormy's table.

We will probably be sitting outside in the guaranteed sunshine

Unfortunately I won't be, maybe another year... (I keep saying the same thing to people who ask if my Landy is on the road yet...). Thanks anyway though :tiphat:

I'm a bit booked up this year, but I will do my best to come along next year, hopefully with my Landy as well. I'd love to have it on the road by next Dunsfold show, because that was great, so lets hope...

Just received my table from Dormobile.
Excellent piece of kit
All bits there - the door pillar brackets, the rear door fixings, the lot.
And nicely powder coated.

the table top might not be for the purist as it is quite plastic something covered, but pleased

Will be fitted for our forthcoming spain / france trip next month
