Hello from Ohio, USA

Post by Arick » Tue Jan 14, 2025 4:10 am

Introducing myself from the Dayton, Ohio, USA region, age 41 as of today.
I am a LR history nerd and collect books, club patches/badges, photos, travelogues, etc from 1950s-1970s Land Rover expeditions.
Currently I use a Defender 110 County 300tdi as my daily driver and a series 2a Carawagon as my weekend toy, both RHD.

The Carawagon is my recent acquisition, hence joining you all here now. She's in decent shape, has had a lot of work since 2016, most notably a mustang 289 V8 petrol engine swap and a NV 4500 transfer installed. The previous owner re-worked the pop up camper mechanicals before discovering the now available kits and so he cut his own seals and used piano hinges. I plan on replacing them this spring once the weather breaks (currently in the negative temps and have 10" or so of snow everywhere).

I'm sure you all have useful resources here.

Cheers!

Welcome to the forum.

It is very quiet on here these days but I am sure others will be interested in your current project. Sounds like you are planning a fair bit of work which the other Carawagon owners (I have a Dormobile) could help you much with.

All the best and hope the weather warms up soon to allow you to start work.

Thank you,
Quiet isn't a surprise in the Facebook driven era. Hopefully there are still active members here as I find forums to be a better format for technical sharing and archiving discussions for future use. I'm a member of a very large and active UK LR forum but there's not a lot of regular interest in Carawagons / Dormobiles / other LR campers there.
