I thought I'd share with you the pics of my 88, yes 88, Carawagon, a.k.a. "Dozer."
As purchased...
Engine started for first time in over ten years...
The bulkhead and front panels are now all done. Everything has been purchased and/or fettled ready for re-assembly. Just needs a tub of motivation, two tubes of opportunity and a widget of self-belief to get it done by the summer.
Maybe time for a LR Camper workshop meet?
Proper rare... ;)

Re: Proper rare... ;)
Yep, probably even rarer than Patrick's 109" Station Wagon Carawagon.
I think there's another 88" Carawagon in about the same state as yours, (ie. restoration in progress!) in Worksop, and of course, John Carroll's Abersoch Express
I know what you mean though, about motivation etc. Last year someone reminded us in January that we only had 15 weeks to get Patrick's Carawagon rebuilt for Morocco! At that time it was a partially restored 6 pot Station Wagon, with the Carawagon bits including the roof (all in bits!) in storage
We managed it, even managing to swap the engine for a 200TDi, though we were doing the 12V auxiliary wiring until 2am on the morning we were setting off at 7am
Cheers,
Robin.

Hi,
An 88" Carawagon was recently featured in LROi ( I might still have the magazine), with the comment that it was intended as a "bivvy" for anglers and such like, rather than as a camper.

Yes, that's the Searle Safari - not strictly a Carawagon as you say, an over-nighter with a couple of beds. Mine is a proper Mini-Carawagon as per the brochure.
Re: Proper rare... ;)
Is there another one Robin? Or are you talking about my Searle Safari, which I was only driving last week!RMS wrote: I think there's another 88" Carawagon in about the same state as yours, (ie. restoration in progress!) in Worksop, and of course, John Carroll's Abersoch Express
It needs a (sympathetic) restoration, only to tidy up and save as it is quite a rare beast however it is on the road and get's driven around!
I'll post some pics up when I get round to it!

No, it was yours I was thinking of Stu.
For some reason I'd had in my mind it was an 88" Carawagon, not a Safari
Cheers,
Robin.
