LRCC page URLs
Now mostly using a nexus tablet for internety thing as PC and much other stuff was relegated to attic to allow for house alterations.
All OK until a recent system update to Android 5.0.2. Now whatever LRCC page/topic I look at, the URL which appears in the address bar is always: - http://www.lrcc.org.uk
Navigating the site is not a problem but I cannot find any individual page URLs, only the LRCC home page above. This prevents me being able to embed links to any specific pages/topics I might want to refer to when posting a reply.
Any ideas what the Android update has done or how I can get around this ?
Thanks
Ian
P.S. I should add only the LRCC site is affected, every other site I can see each pages individual full URL

Re: LRCC page URLs
Hi Ian,
What browser are you using, and what browser were you using before?
You can install Google Chrome on Android as well as other browsers - you don't have to use the Android default one.
It could be to do with the way the website is hosted - you might have noticed (when you could see it) that the URL shows www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/......... rather than www.lrcc.org.uk/.....
That's because I actually store/host the website and forum on my business webspace along with all my other websites and my customer's websites - no point in paying for hosting for each website when I already pay for business webspace.
Anyone going to www.lrcc.org.uk is redirected to where it is actually hosted, hence the change in the URL bar.
Cheers,
Robin.

Google Chrome it is/was. Don't know if it was updated at same time.RMS wrote: What browser are you using, and what browser were you using before?

Yes, I remember those URLs, but the one above now gets me: -RMS wrote:It could be to do with the way the website is hosted - you might have noticed (when you could see it) that the URL shows http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/.........
"Multiple Choices
The document name you requested (/lrcc/forum/........) could not be found on this server. However, we found documents with names similar to the one you requested.
Available documents:
/lrcc/forum/. (common basename)
/lrcc/forum/.. (common basename)
/lrcc/forum/.htaccess (common basename)
Please consider informing the owner of the referring page about the broken link."
The first link above takes me to the 'Board Index' but still shows 'www.lrcc.org.uk' in the address bar
The second link takes me to the LRCC home page
The third link gets me 'forbidden'
Re: LRCC page URLs
Hi Ian,
It's the way the site is hosted, www.lrcc.org.uk is just a frame which points to http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/
So if you bookmark http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/ then it'll work as expected hopefully!
hope that helps!

Clicking your link above takes me to the 'Board Index' but still shows http://www.lrcc.org.uk in the address. Adding the page to my bookmarks then opening it there, takes me back to the LRCC home page.Peaceand wrote: So if you bookmark http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/ then it'll work as expected hopefully!
Re: LRCC page URLs
That's odd, I'll give it a try on my mobile using Chrome tonight (No internet access at work...) and see if I can replicate it.
It's possible that the latest version of Android/Chrome is being too clever, and 'correcting' the URL to the one it stored the first time?
EDIT: Just had a thought, it's possible you are trapped in the frame already, and Chrome isn't letting you escape it. You could try opening a new tab/window and manually typing "http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum" into that? So it's a fresh page?

Re: LRCC page URLs
Hi Ian,
Right, on an Android phone now using Chrome, and I am having the same issue.
The work around is to open a new tab and type in the full URL, or, tap and hold on the link and 'open in new tab'.
Once you have http://www.rms1.co.uk/lrcc/forum/ showing in the URL bar then it's sorted.
Hope that works for you!
