Hipolito Lamp

Post by Jabbawocky » Sat Jan 07, 2017 11:40 pm

Hi all

A mate was going to throw this into the scrap, but after see Stuey use his, I fancy getting it going again, but am no expert. I used to have an Anchor version of this lamp, but that blew up over 10 years ago and nearly took my garage with it.

The lamp is complete except for the glass and mantle. On inspection the only thing that looks amiss is the pump shaft is bent. I guess it shouldn't be bent?

All assistance gratefully received.

Cheers Mick

Looks great Mick

Stu's was quite impressive, especially the lighting procedure - I wouldn't do it under your awning though :aaagh:

I can't help with that one - Stu's was the first I'd seen which didn't use meths for pre-heating.

Have you got his email address? Try him on his kit sales website HERE

Evening,
Very nice lamp you have there :gold:

Personally I would recomend replacing all the seals and give it a good service with this (shameless plug) service kit http://thekitmonkey.co.uk/webshop/campi ... parts-set/

I've got a guide of how to strip one down and put back together, I'll email it you later.

I may have a pump from an anchor somewhere that you can have not too sure if it will fit though, failing that petromax ones will fit amd they do a non prtromax branded one

HI Stuey

Cheers for the reply, Should this lamp have a glass inside the mesh? Will see if I can straighten the shaft. Happy buy from you. Need a small folding cup as well.

Cheers Mick

Hi Mick,
not too sure if it needs a glass inside the mesh, is it removable? As that looks like a home made affair, I've seen some 'safety' globes before that are a wire mesh instead of the glass globe, however it's not too clear with yours if the mesh is part of the lamp or removable.

NB Should look like this:
petromax.JPG
or if you follow this link:

Have just matched up the anchor pump and it is too long and wont fit, some anchor will fit but other stuff may not.

Cheers

Stu
