Side awning

Post by romanyrose » Mon Jan 04, 2016 11:41 am

G'day chaps, i am planning ahead as usual before going out for a bit of a tinker but i would like a side awning for the 88 and would appreciate any idea's regards the making of one or if they are not to expensive treat myself  .

I bought one many years ago from a friend because he had made a mistake and ordered one to long even for a 109 but would be ok with my dormobiled roofed 109 because it's fitted with one of Mick's roof racks which means it can be used as is incorporating the rack as well so i don't want to chop it down.

Catch you later. R-Rose :tiphat:

G'day Michiel, without going out with a tape i honestly don't have any idea but i will let you know later :embarassed: because i should know.

Have you anything in mind ?? , i have just nipped outside and 6 foot would be ideal although not big it would be big enough.

Hi Brad,

I do have a Fiamma caravanstore awning I found too short on my Dormobile. I believe it is just over 7 foot, but would have to check once back home.
I have bought a longer Fiamma (11 foot) awning last summer that reaches from the back of the roof to the front of the roof rack, so I don't need this one.
This one hangs in bag all zipped up. You need a c-rail to slide it in (easily obtained from ebay). I have made brackets for mine on the Dormobile to give extra height (headroom) and it lives on the passenger side.
It is the same sort that Mick (Jabbawocky) has.

Cheers,

Michiel

I'm glad that worked out for you Brad - Ben was on his way up the A1 with the roof so I'm sure it wasn't too much of a detour.

He's restoring a 'hedge find' SW Carawagon which had been stripped out by a previous owner, including the roof replaced by a standard roof, so Michiel's roof should be a big help to him.
As you might know, SW Carawagons are very rare beasts so another one being restored to its former glory is welcome news.

Nice lad, he always comes for a chat at the shows

Cheers,
Robin.
