Hi all
On with fitting the Eberspacher I have had in the garage for the last 10 years into Barney. Heater is in the rear footwell and I want to run the wire to the back under the floor, but don't want to drill too big a hole. This black plug requires a 28mm hole, but what does it do? Can I get rid of it?
Cheers Mick

Re: Eberspacher electric Plug
Hi Mick,
What model is it? I might have a diagram
If it's been working in your garage without anything connected to that plug then you should be able to cut it off and insulate the wires.
It was probably for a timer or something similar.
Cheers,
Robin.

Hi Robin
The plug was for a timer. I found a wiring diagram and it is now removed. Heater is fitted and seams to be working properly. It seams to be working on the thermostat, turning itself on and off. Shame they are so noisy!! I have a silencer on the exhaust, but still a bit noisy for some of the very quite sites we like to camp on. Saying that, two of the sites we used last year, we were the only folks there.
Cheers Mick

Re: Eberspacher electric Plug
Hi Mick,
I find the Webasto clones quieter than the Eberspachers - different burner design possibly
I find pointing the end of the exhaust down towards the ground can muffle the sound a bit.
Did you know you can also get an intake silencer? Some of the noise you can hear from the outside is generated by air being sucked into the burner intake pipe.
If you want a cheap intake silencer, take a length of 22mm foam pipe insulation, say 18" or so, and stick it on the end of the intake pipe. That's what I use and it does make a bit of difference.
Cheers,
Robin.
