Lifting roof on a Marshall...

Post by Jeremy » Sun May 15, 2016 5:20 pm

Hi all,

Will do a proper intro soon!

I've got a Marshall 2a that's rough... About to start a camper conversion and want to put a lifting roof of some sort on her. I've seen a few photos but not one in the flesh.

Anyone done one/ got one/ got any suggestions?!

Thanks!

Saw one with a 'Dormobile' type roof many, many years ago. Sorry, can't recall any more details but it's an idea

Mark has a nice Marshal with a VW pop top:

There's lots more photos scattered around, have a look through Mark's old posts and you'll probably find more.

We were looking at a couple of Marshals last weekend at a camp, and wondering how much you could gain by dropping the floor between the wheel boxes/chassis rails?
There doesn't seem to be anything in the way, so might gain a few inches
Probably still wouldn't gain enough height for most people, but every bit counts

Cheers,
Robin.

'acrmarshallambo' over on seriouslyseries has a lift up top on his....
I've often wondered about the electric lift up top from a Mazda friendee bongo... As they seem fairly flat in profile so would possible suit the roof better than a, lot of others?

Thanks all, some good stuff to go on!

Hadn't considered lowering the floor, will look into that as well

Hi Jeremy,

What sort of lifting roof are you after. The Dormobile canvas side, Landrover Carawaggon or a solid fold up side. I have a box body with a solid side lift up roof. Quite simple to make.
If want something like this I can send you photos or your welcome to have a look. Big advantage that I see is that it is possible to make it wider and full length.

Hi Bob.

I have an ambulance and, whilst I am thinking about keeping it as standard as possible, would love to see photos of your lifting roof arrangement.
To infirmary and beyond!

Would love to see photos, thanks!

At the moment not sure on type of roof but like the idea of solid sides...
