In the current LRO mag - 1966 Carawagon Continental, LPG conversion (so probably a six pot), o/d, capstan winch and 'free wheel hubs to optical points'??? No price but it could be expensive, call 01420 404018 (days) or 01420 489945 (evenings) if you're interested.

OK Phillip, understood, seems overpriced to me based on apparent condition from photos. Does that ex-Military at £5125 interest you? Pity it's a Series 3. It's been advertised for a while so might go for less.

Re: Carawagon Alert!
hi
if it had been a s2 or 2a it would be on my drive.
there has been some debate on the s2 site re s2
or s3,and a s3 just does not do it for me,
have spoken with the owner of the one in lro
and when the price drops a little will go and look
at it
regards

I have to agree with you, the S3 just does not do it for me either and for once I agree with the points made by 'crashbox' on the thread you refer to.

Re: Carawagon Alert!
To be honest, I've kept out of that debate because I don't really agree with the whole S2 v S3 thing.
If there were a similar debate on the S3/90/110 club forum, I'm sure exactly the opposite points would be raised, and I'm pretty sure there are a lot of folk on the S1 club forum who have the same views re. S1 v S2 as those who are so vocal on the S2C.
I think the debate has more to do with which club you're in, rather than which vehicle you drive., and Alan summed it up with;
"The answer to the question is very simple ...
This is the Series 2 Club Forum
... and as such we naturally stand up for our favoured version of Land Rover"
In fact, the only reason I've got an S2 Carawagon rather than converting Rex (which was my S3 tax exempt LWB, now sadly gone to a new owner ) was to make sure I could get on to the S2C stand at shows
That reason has sort-of gone now that we have our own stand If I were still looking, and had the money, I'd go for whatever came up at the right time and right price, whether it was S2 or S3.
Patrick's Carawagon is an early S3; (a barn find, in pieces) and I really don't mind which we take to shows, though it does have the eberspacher heater, so is my preferred vehicle for the colder nights!
They drive the same, sound the same, function in the same way, so the only 'critisism' I can see folk having is that they prefer a metal dash to a plastic one and prefer to stamp on a floor button to dip the headlights
Sorry, just my views, and everyone else is entitled to their views
Cheers,
Robin.
