Well spotted Robin.

Really nice looking and well kept by the looks of it. And soooo close to my birth date too...
Wonder how much it eventually goes for...

Hi,

Replied to several other posts of you regarding your new aquisition...

Can I give you one tip...
I spotted you have a 6 pot purring under the bonnet...
Start collecting engine bits or even whole engines. Especially the exhaust manifolds. They are like gold dust.
Bits for these engines are becoming more and more difficult to find for a decent price, if at all.
My exhaust manifold has a crack and blows smoke and it took me ages to find one, and even that one has a slight crack in it.

Cheers,

Michiel

I'll have to check my local LR supplier, some years back they had a lot of 6-cylinder exhaust manifolds NOS in Land Rover boxes. I paid AUD$100 and replaced my manifold which had cracked in two. They had them listed at AUD$275 but had so many they just wanted to shift them.....

Military Series III's here were all 6-cylinder and I think these manifolds were from a job lot at an army auction when they were decommissioned.

Often here they have now been swapped out for Holden motors as the 6-cylinder parts get hard to come by. The odd motor still turns up and recently someone had 3 reconditioned heads for sale.

Turns out all the 6-cyl exhaust manifolds were sold to someone in the UK, possibly Craddocks but the staff couldn't remember (company has changed hands).

Cheers for that info Colin,

Will do some research as to where they could have gone. But chances are thay they will ask good money for them now as they know their true worth over here... :thud:
But if it is military stock, they should be in mint condition.

I just checked the John Craddocks website. they could have bought them. They have then for £395 + VAT :stars:

Told you they would sell them at premium prices.
