What a fantastic event!
Steve, Patrick, Phillip & I all went to this event in our Carawagons and set up an encampment in their HUBB Zone (display area).
HUBB was started back in 1987 by two overlanding motorcyclists - it now has over 36,000 members all around the world.
It started as a bulletin board system where travellers could post about their travels and any problems which might affect other travellers (war zones, closed borders etc.).
HUBB now has over 80 forum sections with many thousands of posts, and loads of other info for any travellers, not just bikers.
In recent years, more and more 4x4 travellers have joined, and this year's main UK event, last weekend, was the first time 4x4 vehicles had been invited to participate.
There were over 700 HUBB members there, and most were bikers, but also around 50 (my estimation!) 4x4 vehicles, from our Carawagons to 7.5 tonne monster motorhomes! Oh, and also a 101 whose owner has just joined LRCC
I think Phillip counted about 130 talks on the schedule over the 4 days of the event, ranging from a pushbike overlander (I think it was Alaska to Mexico), a Honda C90 ride from Malaysia to London, a couple of pensioners who discovered overlanding when they retired (13 years ago!) and regularly spend months driving around Africa in their stock Defender with lots of home made mods inside, to how to film your adventure
Check it out at HUBB.
More pics to follow, but here is a view of the stand (rear view - can't find a front view )
The 14 minute kettle!
Roadkill Cookout, where there was a rabbit skinning competition
and some roadkill
Oh, and how many bottles?

Love the "you kill em we grill em " pic, look good with a kangaroo on the bbq
If you look at the bottom of the hubb link http://www.horizonsunlimited.com/events/queensland-2013 you will notice that there was an event in my hometown of "Dayboro". I met Simon and Lisa Thomas http://2ridetheworld.com/ and had a good chat with them, they had just landed in Perth and had drove non stop to Dayboro where they had been invited to do a talk and show film footage.
He said he was the real Ewan McGregor (the long way round) and I had to agree with him

Well, they had what looked like a full grown deer on it on Saturday - not quite as large as a big red, but impressive all the samejerryd wrote:Love the "you kill em we grill em " pic, look good with a kangaroo on the bbq
