LRO Peterborough, 7-8 Sept.

Post by RMS » Mon Jul 15, 2013 3:54 pm

Hi guys,

If you wish to be considered for a pass for the LRO Peterborough Show this year, (7th & 8th September) please PM me.

I am expecting this to be more popular than Billing (only 5 confirmed for that  ) so don't delay!

Priority will be given to self contained campers (Dormobiles, Carawagons, conversions etc.) and to those who will commit for the whole weekend, preferably arriving on Friday so we can organise the stand, and staying until Sunday afternoon.

Cheers,
Robin.

Hi,

Live Promotions are continuing the pass procedure they tried out at Billing, which means we need to supply a list of names to them before Friday 16th August and we collect the passes individually on arrival.

We still have two vehicle passes available.

If you want to be considered for this show, to join us on our award winning stand ( ), then please let me know by PM as soon as you can.

Cheers,
Robin.

Yet another great weekend!

Despite rain on Friday morning on the way down, I led John & Sandra and Martyn (going as S2C members and towing their folding caravans) down the A1, arriving at the showground at around 11:30 to find it warm and dry, with no sign of rain!

Our stand was just behind the S2C stand so we arranged a communal area between.

Kath & Chris were already there with Pete & Jonny and their vehicles (on the S2C stand), but they camped right next to the communal area so that Kath could supply us with constant hot drinks and sweet things

Ian & Dianne, Phillip and Mark & Cat arrived in the afternoon with their Dormobile, Carawagon and Marshall Ambulance camper respectively, with Stuey (88" Carawagon) and Patrick (Carawagon) arriving later in the evening.

The final Dormobile of Mick (Jabbawocky) & William arrived early Saturday morning after an unfortunate experience with a dodgy meat pie on Friday!

So, we were all set up for when the public arrived on Saturday morning.

On Saturday evening we all joined together for a Moroccan Lamb Stew (prepared & cooked by me) with additions of rice by Patrick, a hot chicken dish by John and a Kefta by Mick.

The stew took 3 hours to cook in my new cast iron pot - an ideal size for 12 servings :gold:
(those of you with eagle eyes might spot a very good friend in the background - Brad (romanyrose) who made it down for the day

Image

..... so it was dark when we served out. We dined around three firepits in the communal area between the stands, ringed by windbreaks, in the company of the S2C members from their stand:

Image

All the firepits competed for heat output, some more than others with the wood stores depleting quickly, but just look at the flame from the top of my firepit chimney!

Image

The good news on Sunday was that Stuey was invited into the arena for the awards ceremony, having been nominated as one of the finalists for best classic with his rare 88" Carawagon, Priscilla :gold:
We were all hoping he would get first place, but he was beaten into second by a bright yellow S1 recovery truck, which, unlike Priscilla, had been stripped for a complete nut and bolt restoration!
Third place was taken by a very rare Range Rover Carawagon, one of only 8 built!

Here is Stu protecting his assets

Image
(Ignore the apparent Hiab which appears to be mounted on his roof rack - it was just a machine clearing the arena behind!)

All in all, another great show - great weather, great company, great food  and another award for an LRCC member (well done Stu  )

Cheers,
Robin.

Sorry I missed you - I only went walkabout a couple of times, but missed several important people (including you :embarassed: ) while away from the stand :thud:

Hopefully next time ......

G'day chaps, my thanks go to everyone who made my day a fantastic time pushing my warped sense of humour to the limits some times I know but I am afraid laughter is good for everyone and makes for an even better time in my eyes anyway  .

Now situations are sorted in my/our lives and we are settled and surrounded by not just a garden fish pond and flowers but knowing my trucks are safe from peoples thieving hands as they used to pass my house that's now in the ownership of someone else helps me sleep at night so I can now build up my strength and be with you all around the fire pit in one of my trucks anyway enjoying :eatin: :wine: or just watching the world go by :cactus: .

After sleeping for nearly 2 days I will try and crack on tomorrow with the thoughts of the show prominent in my mind  . Catch you later. R-Rose :tiphat: .

PS my thanks also go towards you all for making Martin my chauffeur for the day not just tire ring with having to put up with my waffling all day  but the fact you made him very welcome unlike a stand that I will not mention who were quit ignorant towards him  .

It's been great to see you at the recent shows Brad, knowing how difficult the last couple of years have been with houses etc., so it's great to see you getting out again.

Of course, you couldn't do it without your chauffeur, Martin, and of course, that makes him a very important person in our eyes, not only for driving you to the shows, but also for putting up with you

Brad - your target is Easter 2014 for a cold one, or early/mid May for Driffield/Harrogate :gold:

Cheers,
Robin.
