new roof

Post by bigdave » Fri Apr 10, 2015 5:11 pm

Well, after a lot of research and some vital information from the learned gentleman, I have sourced all the parts to totally rebuild the roof. Now comes the difficult bit...

Hi Dave,

Glad to hear that

What sheet material are you using?

Is the weekend camp at your place going to be a "roof raising" celebration?

Cheers,
Robin.

Materials sourced so far are...

US 2024-T3 ALCLAD ( uk L109) Aluminium Sheet. This is a close as you'll get to Duralinium®. £239.

Continuous aluminium hinges from Häfele. £35

Sheet of 12mm exterior ply wood void free £27

Sheet of 18mm exterior plywood void free £40

Rubber from COH bains IRS0668EP, IRS0564EP, IRS0693EP, IRS0326EP, flat rubber strip 50mmx1.6mm £135

Have fun with the flocking Dave :aaagh:

I've seen the kit Steve got - probably the same as yours with a puffer ball? Looks like hard work!

We had a guy came up to us at the Ripon show a couple of years ago - said he worked for Searle and it was a horrible job which they used to get paid extra for.
I suppose they would have used compressed air though - probably a lot faster and easier, but also probably a lot of fibres floating in the air.

Don't forget pictures, especially the flocking procedure

Cheers,
Robin.

Does this mean holding your fingers in a wallsocket while doing it??? :neener:

What does this Flocking entail though? Is this some sort of insulation in the roof?

Basically its the original finish. Have a look on YouTube, there a quite a few how to guides on there that should give you an idea of the process.
