Carawagon roof woodwork
Carawagon roof woodwork
I have a problem, the ply side pieces at the front of the roof are rotten. The previous owner had replaced them with cheap ply. Is it possible to replace these without removing the whole lifting bit? Also the cheap brassed steel piano hinges are rusting away, this looks a pig of a job. I am looking at replacing them with stainless steel. I was wondering if replacing half a length at a time was a good idea. Dave

Yes it is. Done it. Now replacing roof hinges and timber.
Re: Carawagon roof woodwork
Sorry I didn't spot this the first time round. Half and half should be absolutely fine, all the strain is towards the ends (where the screws pull out of rotton woodwork) so there's very little force in the middle where the join is.
Mine has been like that for nearly 5 years with no issues.
