Carawagon rear tent and awning on ebay

Post by Peaceand » Mon May 04, 2015 9:31 pm

Nothing to do with me, just popped up on my ebay page as an item of interest.

May be worth it if anybody has poles but wants more than a thrown over tarp? The curtains are a bonus!

Many thanks

Hi Phil,
I've only seen a couple in the flesh, but it looks to be either original, or very in keeping with the original style. The colour is certainly right, I've only ever seen blue ones.

Two things don't match up with the ones I've seen in the past:
* The plastic material rather than cotton used for the skirts (and possibly a groundsheet too?).
* The removable side section, rather than a roll up side.

Having said that, they are very sensible modificaitons, and at least 3 people on this forum who've had their own rear awning tents custom made have done similar things.

Searle did alter their designs over the production period, so perhaps this is a late one?

(The curtains almost certainly aren't original equipment)

Hope that helps!

Patrick

Hi Patrick,
many thanks for your thoughts
By the way our carawagon is progressing! Not as fast as I'd hoped - 200 tdi engine fully serviced incl new t/belt, all new braking system, steering freed, all welding done.
Next stage - sort out wiring for mot, complete new doors ready to be fitted, full respray - hopefully this stage starts in next few weeks! Then get mot then new wheels/ tyres then off for roof rebuild then finally tidy interior then book campsite!!
Regards
Phil
Was hoping to join u in billing were we met you last year but may have to be next year!!
