Found your site when looking for other Dormobile owners here in Australia and it’s good to find other normal, like-minded people. I have run with Land Rovers since the early seventies, and find Oz is the place that offers all kinds of four wheel driving; now my L.R. stable has a vehicle for every occasion. Four cyl 1964 ex-army cut-wing which I have owned for over thirty years, six cyl (3lit Westlake) 1968 Dormobile, which was driven out from Scotland in the early seventies. The 1977 two door Range Rover which I have cut down to 88 inches, and will tow a camper round Oz in the near future. My dormi gets used for extended fishing trips north and south of Perth W.A. Two desert trips and several trips into wildflower country. And attends most of the British car show and shine days. With duel batts, roof rack, overdrive, and airbags, it’s the ideal wagon just to jump in and go… I have just finished the internal table, missing along with a few other bits and pieces. Some pictures attached………. Jock …

Hi Jock,

Good to see you've managed to log on

We might be popping in to see you if our plans go well for later this year - guests at a wedding in Malaysia, a week in Perth, perhaps a week in Adelaide where I lived as a youngster, and then at least couple of weeks in Tas with rellies.

We've never been to Perth before - it was a long way from Adelaide in the 1960s :stars: so might be looking for tips on where to go/what to see :tiphat:

Nice stable, by the way, though of course, my favourite would be the Dormobile :neener:

Cheers,
Robin.

Hi Jock,
I see you've made it to the member's motors section, welcome :tiphat: I can't see any pics here though :?

Robin, I still think you should drop by our neck of the woods while you are over in oz, free board and lodgings :wine:

Hi Jerry,

Maybe next time :tiphat:

We've done Sydney a few times, though mostly in transit (to Hobart, Cairnes, and last time Hobart then driving Sydney to Brisbane & back) so thought we'd do Perth for a change this time.

Thanks very much for the offer though; next time we're planning a trip over your way I'll let you know

Cheers,
Robin.

Hi guys,

Just back from Malaysia, Perth & Hobart (returned early due to a death in the family!).

I did manage to squeeze an hour in while in Perth to go and see Jock and his Dormobile - very impressed!

Really good workmanship; lots of well thought out ideas and well made mods - and it is shiny

Here are just a few pics I managed to snap off while I was there:

Hopefully next time we will have more 'leisure' time

Cheers,
Robin.

Sorry to hear that you had to cut short your trip Robin, that's one nice looking "Dormobile" Jock :gold:
Is that fishing line in your overhead cupboard ??

Hopefully mine might be nearly finished by 2014 and I could join your trip up the canning . We went off roading sunday and I think I've finally destroyed the gearbox, it's making some very strange noises :aaagh: and jumping out of gear occasionally.

Check the exhaust hanger - if it's in roughly the same place as the 88" it could be assisting in noises. Mine used to kick out of gear on overrun (box replaced) but now sounds like it's about to fall apart when I press the clutch to change gear.
